Tolú, some tips.

The city of Tolú is a city around the Morrosquillo Gulf, Colombia. This State (Deparment) is Sucre and it´s a nice site to enjoy beaches, hotels and travel around certains cities like Coveñas and travelling to Cartagena de Indias or Santa Marta or Barranquilla.

The capital city of Sucre is Sincelejos, and travelling by bus you´ll spend less than an hour to finish this 40 kms road. Everything you want can be found in there, but Tolú (official name: Santiago de Tolú) is in front of a big coast and many people here come from Bogotá, Medellin -or anywhere- just to relax and spend some holydays, just because it´s a safe spot and, around its 30 hectareas, you´ll find fields used to raise cows or horses.

The most important shops are close to the hotels in front of the coast. They are -mostly- behind the first and the second blocks, as happens with the house of the mayor and his office or the catholic church.

You can place an international phone call at MENSAJERÍA EMPRESARIAL OFFICE (Local phone: 288-2447), where you can send letters or packages to almost any city in Colombia. They also offer you a PC with internet service and plan to create a WI-FI area soon, since but few hotels grant you this service.

There are dozens of hotels and "Posadas" on Tolú. Very know are "Hotel Morrosquillo" or "Playa Mar" (in front of the coast) but many countrymen rent their houses, or portions of their housing, to get some extra money and give some rooms to those who can not get the standard facilities offered by travel agencies or certain hotel operators.

It´s interesting to see how bikes are all around! They have 4-wheels and 6-wheels bicycles. They have made a new kind of taxi-bikes which charge $1.000 for each passanger they carry (mil pesos colombianos).

Tolú (Santiago de Tolú) is flat. The maximun height I´ve seen is 10 meters over sea level, so I don´t recommend you to come here when the reany seasons comes to its peak: They have problems with the sewerage.

The road to come here is not wide nor a highway. It´s narrow and old, I would say, but it´s pays to come and enjoy and if you have problems with your computer or tickets, call Mansajería Empresarial and they will help you sort out whatever thing you pay for.
